I don't know what is going on in this thread, but in most states you500vip彩票线路测试 have to have a BS in an engineering related field. On top of that, you500vip彩票线路测试 must pass the FE (fundamentals of engineering) exam and work at least 4 years under a PE before you500vip彩票线路测试 can sit for the 8-hour PE exam. It's brutal!
OK, I am a non-practicing architect but becoming an architect is by no means easy either.

BArch which itself is a 5-year degree of which only (in my experience, not sure what it is now) the top 30 architecture and top 10 architectural engineering students make it to 3rd year out of over 200 that initially sat down in ARCH 1216 as a freshman.

After the degree, you500vip彩票线路测试 have to intern under a licensed architect (can be during summers while in school too). Currently during the internship, you500vip彩票线路测试 have to accumulate 3700 total hours across 55 different tasks, some easy to get, others not so easy. Typically a good 2-3 years of interning.

Then you500vip彩票线路测试 get to take the 6-part test. In my day, it was 8 parts, spread across a week, culminating in a 12-hour charette where you500vip彩票线路测试 had to design a multi-story building and document floor plans, elevations, roof plan, section and site plan. 12 hours with no formal breaks. You packed all you500vip彩票线路测试r drafting gear, board, food and snacks because once you500vip彩票线路测试 were in, the only reason allowed out was if you500vip彩票线路测试 quit. You would get escorted to the bathroom. The other tests were multiple choice covering different aspects of practice, each ranging from 1.5 hours to 4 hours.

Been a lot of changes since then, the most significant being it is now computerized, six parts and you500vip彩票线路测试 can take a single section whenever you500vip彩票线路测试 are ready as long as all sections are completed in a 5-year window. My day, Sections A-G were offered once a year, M-Th with Section H, the charette, offered twice a year (the Friday after all of the others). Current success rate is about 50%, up slightly from my time.

Which brings us to the money. Sucks. Mike Brady is a liar as there is no way you500vip彩票线路测试 could raise six kids and have a live-in nanny with an architect's salary. Which is why I am now a real estate, construction and architectural consultant.

I started this thread in the sports forum about the Texas football game being moved to the Friday after Thanksgiving and it turned into this. Then some jack wagon moved it here.

Regarding P.E., I think one of you500vip彩票线路测试 is talking about Petroleum Engineers and one is talking about Professional Engineers.
When I talk about P.E.T. I mean Petroleum Engineering Technology degree. When others say P.E. I understand that to be Professional Engineer. OSU did not have Petroleum Engineering degrees when I attended but it did have Petroleum Engineering Technology.

    Ooh, Mr internet big shot....

I also own my own structural engineering company. I pulled in over $480K last year. If you500vip彩票线路测试 made more than that, good for you500vip彩票线路测试. Otherwise, stop being such a dick. Engineers, contractors, architects, all make mistakes. You can have you500vip彩票线路测试r Tech degree. Because in the same room, the P.E. trumps you500vip彩票线路测试 any day of the week. You can't "fix" the mistakes without the P.E. agreeing.
Do you500vip彩票线路测试 want to bet? I worked in research for 5 years and I and others fixed things that the engineers didn't foresee to make things work. Not all engineering requires a P.E. stamp on it.

One of the reasons I steered clear. I do know architects and saw the struggle and financial drain of taking all the tests. Financially speaking, engineering is much more lucrative.
